BIOGRAPHY

Born in San Francisco and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Nathalie is a very active musician having toured extensively in North and South America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. She loves to play many different styles of music, from classical to Jazz, African to Arabic, pop songs to film music.

She has collaborated with : Roch Voisine, Bruno Pelletier, Lara Fabian, Isabelle Boulay, Gino Vanelli, Rick Wakeman, Nanette Workman, Coral Eagan, Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloïze, Moist, Riccardo Cocciante, Marie-Denise Pelletier, Urbain Desbois, Michel Cusson, James Gelfand, Michel Donato, Bran Van 3000, Oliver Jones, Holy Cole, Geneviève Charest, Ann Victor, Katjar, Saïd Mesnaoui and Robert Marien.

She is featured on more than 60 recordings, numerous movie soundtracks and television commercials including the soundtrack of the movie Les Muses Orphelines directed by Robert Favreau and winner of 6 Jutras in 2000 including « Best Original Music ».

In 1998, Nathalie was invited to be part of the cultural delegation for the Governor General (Roméo Leblanc) Diplomatic Tour to Africa. During the 3-week tour, she performed in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Tanzania and Morocco.

Nathalie also founded and directed the Montreal String Fest from 1998 to 2001 producing concerts and workshops with international artists such as : Marc O’Connor, Darol Anger, Matt Glaser, Joe Diorio, Julie L. Lieberman, John Blake Jr., Eugene Friesen, Quartango, Claude Lamothe and Jorane. In 2001-02 she was featured on the musical BEAT which has been seen by more than 25000 people.

Since the summer of 2002, Nathalie collaborates with Quinsin Nachoff, saxophone player based in Toronto. In 2003, Nathalie was soloist and leader of the string trio on the Jazz album recorded with Quinsin and Kent Emerson on the piano. In january 2004, Quinsin invited Nathalie again as soloist and leader of the string quartet for a radio-concert given at the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto and broadcasted on CBC. The other guest artists were Jim Black on drums and Mark Helias on double bass. They also recorded the program for a CD : "Magic Numbers" released in 2006 on Songline Records. In the spring of 2005, Nathalie recorded a third album with Quinsin with other guest artists being John Taylor on piano (ECM) and Ernst Reijseger on cello. This album was released in 2008.

Since September 2002, she is a member of the NYC-based jazz quintet Odeon alongside Ted Nash, Wycliffe Gordon, Bill Schimmel and Matt Wilson. They have performed at the famous Village Vanguard in NYC in September 2002 and May 2003 and have completed a 6-concert tour in Brazil last summer. In February 2004, ODEON performed at the famous Jazz Standard in New York and in the spring, the group collaborated with the Augusta Ballet Company in Georgia, USA, for the production called "Under a Cajun Moon". ODEON released it's second album : "La Espada de la Noche" in March 2005 on the label Palmetto Records. The album and the concerts received a lot of great critics from the press as you can see on Ted Nash's web site : www.tednash.com. In spring 2005, ODEON completed a West Coast tour for the release of the new album and also performed a week at the new Dizzy's Coca-Cola Jazz Club in New York. the group returned to New York in March 2006 to play at The Jazz Standard and a North American tour in 2008 from Montréal down to Savannah, GA.

From 2003 to 2005, Nathalie led the string quartet for Gino Vannelli during the "Canto Tour" in Canada, the United States and Europe.

From 2004 to 2008, Nathalie was a member of Denis Plante and the Racines quartet. The Tango music group recorded 2 albums together : "Cantos de Bandoneon" and "Café Tango" on the label Flores de Nacar.

In 2007, Nathalie was invited as guest soloist to record “Portrait in Seven Shades” composed by Ted Nash. Recorded in NYC in the main Jazz at Lincoln Center studio, the album will be released on The Orchard label on January 19th 2010. Nathalie will returned to NY in February 2010 to perform the piece at the Rose Hall accompanied by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra directed by Wynton Marsalis.

In 2008, she was solo violin of the House Band for the Canada Day concert on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

In 2008-2009, Nathalie was a member of the House Band for the television show “M pour Musique” on Radio-Canada. In the summer 2009, she was a band member of the television show “La Vie est un cirque” on TV5. She continues to play regularly on different radio and television shows as guest violinist.

Since 2007, Nathalie has developed a unique concept of acrobatic violin. Her first performance was live on the television show “L’Heure de Gloire” in 2008. Nathalie is now completing the «Gentleman Cambrioleur» World Tour with Garou as solo electric/acoustic violinist and backvocalist.
